This badge was designed and produced late in WWII as a close combat award for Paratroopers only. It's never been issued, but the same design, without the swastika, was later used by the West German Army for its Paratrooper badge.
The reverse is marked with the makers logo of Assman and Sohn of Luedenscheid.
