This unofficial medal is awarded to members of the Legione di Formazione Camicia Nera Lavoratori “Lucchini” (Black Shirt Workers Legion “Lucchini”) for their work conducted in Africa Orientale Italiana (Italian East Africa).
In 1938 seven Black Shirt Workers Legions were deployed in newly conquered Italian East Africa to devote themselves to the restoration, but moreover the expansion of the infrastructure in the colony.
Each of the six provinces had a Legion at its disposal, with the exception of Amara, which had two. Black Shirt Workers Legion “Lucchini” is one of the two legions assigned to Amara.
There are two versions of this medal; a bronze and a gold version, both produced by F.M. Lorioli F.LLI by the design of Affer.
